Many of you would like to fire Joe Schoen.
Who would you recommend as the new GM?
I would not want a neophyte. Is there someone available with a track record of success?
If a change is to be made, it must be a significant upgrade.
The Giants cannot hire a first-time GM.
Why Peters? The Skins were a fluke team last year carried by Daniels. The rest of the team isn't very good and their record is all of one game better than the Giants.

Exactly. And their strategy has been to sign old guys and trade draft picks for old guys. Daniels is great, but that roster is pretty bad and way older than it should be.
I wouldn't bet against him finding his way with Wash, he is a first time GM.
I want a HC to be both, or the GM to report to the HC.
Things can still look a lot worse for the Giants and Schoen but for now I see him coming back. The question may be who is going to want to coach with Schoen and who ultimately winds up being HC.
Let's say they win 3? At 5-12 in year 4 Schoen gets to stay as GM? That would make his record 14-37 for the past 3 years. How can they bring him back with that record?
Ray Agnew - Lions assistant GM who was in the Rams front office before that. Former Giant player. Very attractive idea implementing someone who has downloaded info from those two teams.
Mike Greenberg - 16 years with the Bucs (probably the most underrated FO in the league) the last 3 years as assistant GM
Matt Berry - 17 years in the Seahawks FO, currently their senior director of player personnel. Ran college scouting for 7 years there.
The last two are attractive names because they've been mainstays in organizations who have consistently drafted well and put out winning teams.

This. Ideally I’d hire the HC and then have the HC have input on who the general manager will be. GM is support staff for the HC.
Some nice considerations mentioned Grit.
I'm not convinced Schoen will get fired even though he should, but I think Daboll is dunzo here.
A good one or a bad one?
Because you very easily go with the bad one... ;)

I agree, but you need a rock star HC. Who is that guy, and would he come to the Giants when he would likely have better opportunities?
Both solid choices and guys with enough cache to tell the Mara's to pound sand when they tried to meddle. Which is why it will ever happen.

Circling back on this, the one guy I can think of is Lane Kiffin. Granted, his first NFL go-around didn't turn out too well, but he was really young, and had to deal with a likely demented Al Davis and a dysfunctional Raiders' org.
He would command a big chunk of change, not sure the Mara's would be willing to pony up that kind of cash, but maybe it's his dream to make it in the NFL like his father.
Funny enough, two of the nine were GM of the Giants. Accorsi and Gettleman. And only three of the nine were GM on three teams, including Accorsi.
GMs generally only get one shot. Searching for a GM that has 'experience' is not a good requirement to depend on.

Which kind of supports my theory that GMs are largely dopes in suits who just get lucky or unlucky. Compare to HCs, some you can identify as proven winners and some that will clearly be garbage at the time of hire like Mcadoo and Judge.
