Sorry if I missed this somewhere here ... just read somewhere else that pro-rated, if Dart scored TDs at the same pace over 17 games, if you look at 2024 final stats, he would have led the league in TDs scored alongside Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, as they'd have all tied with 45.
Same math, Dart would have finished 7th in passing yards in 2024, behind Jackson and ahead of Patrick Mahomes.
I'm trying to temper my hopes, but this season feels very similar to 2019. Lame duck coach, shitty defense, promising rookie QB.
Find a solid RG, add another late round WR (Josh Cameron, Baylor or Kevin Coleman, Mizzou) and keep Eluemunor, and we are really cooking. Especially if they can find a good offensive HC.
Defensively, they still have a lot of holes but I believe they can find serviceable LB and DL on the market / in the mid rounds. Having a better offense and getting a new DC should also help the D.

Jones never at any point in his rookie year looked like Dart. Jones also was a turnover machine and his weapons were significantly better than what Dart has which is Wandale and practice squad players

More than half of Jones’ TD’s came against bad defense in 3 games. He also fumbled 10(!) times during one 4 game stretch, turned it over more than 20 times and looked overmatched against decent teams. The feeling about Jones during and after that season was cautious optimism that came with caveats.
No matter how you slice it, Jones looked nowhere close to as good as Dart has and never flashed the kind of elite QB upside that Dart does every week despite having Mo, Larry and Curly as his receiving options.
Can't ignore the poor performances from his receivers, notably Theo Johnson and Darius Slayton.
There's a lot to like. Anyone trying to compare his rookie year and stats to Daniel's, who I liked, just aren't watching any games or watching how he maneuvers around the pocket.
I am fairly confident that assessment will never change.

Jones -> Smith
Meanwhile Dart's gonna continue to get the hell beat outta him, and Daboll won't be around next year for it to affect him.

And you know Daboll is gonna pad those stats as much as possible so he can brag about it in future job interviews.

Maras are criminally negligent. Schoen's doing the same thing, you can tell he's a corporate weasel from Hard Knocks.
Jones looked like a deer in headlights and apprehensive to make a mistake, Dart looks like nothing bothers him and his main objective is to win.
They are not in the same category.
This. Dart is more talented, he hates losing, and he is a leader on the team.
Jones was a guy who could run really well who also played QB.

I am looking forward to this possible scenario.

Jones had 22 touchdowns his first year in only 14 games. Hasn't matched that total till this year.

That point is so easily forgotten here. A bit of a mythology has developed about Jones' rookie year. 19 fumbles, 11 lost, 12 picks. A turnover machine that's mostly been papered over.
and rarely miss
We need to get over the playmakers vs build LOS on both sides of the ball
Yes we have a big need but another stud wr might be 2027
Or rd 2
Of course it also depends on grades, value etc
Honestly in that scenario I wouldn't be shocked if Tate is WR1.
Agree for the most part, gotta keep the kid learning imho, granted not have him out there trying to be all world, that shit went by the boards at 2-7, maybe even b4.... That said get him exposure to the league, then put in Winston, half game each.... Keep him exposed but sheltered, if you have any sense(org.) this would be the way.

Huge difference in how Dart is scoring from what we saw with Jones.

he's already been through the gauntlet of playing against Harbaugh, Payton, SB champs twice with awful talent around him, we know what we got. Too bad we don't have a Devito we can develop/showcase (admittedly showcasing him for a trade is kind of farfetched).

Yes a smart, conservative gameplan with a lot of quick short passes, screens, running game (RBs only), RPOs, and PAs would be ideal. Hell maybe Dumboll can actually learn to create a good modern day offensive scheme using that.
Do we still have a screen game?
