your company's HR team is too lenient with bad actors, consider Fox Sports, which needed a month to determine that this was the right call.
I have no inside information but I'm about 99% sure that:
1) He has a contract, he's not an at-will employee, so his firing and any severance package had to be reviewed by HR and lawyers.
2) He has an agent who had to be looped in on the final determination.
3) This process started the morning the news broke.
4) They didn't want to do it while his life was in danger.
Bonus:
He'll go into rehab, get therapy, possibly get medicated, spend a couple of years working his recovery and rebuilding his relationships, then do the tearful confessional TV interview and try to get back into broadcasting.
He might succeed. I mean, Craig Carton got back into broadcasting and he served prison time.

Had to get drunk and start a fight with a 70 year old.
Brilliant.
Obviously more to this story than what was reported.

This. Zero chance he was just drunk. Dude ruined his life. God knows what he took but it wasn’t just over drinking.
