Tiki Barber said the following after Nagy hiring:
"The person that's gonna benefit most is Theo Johnson.
"As long as he learns how to catch the damn ball. Theo Johnson is going to be heavily utilized in this offense." |
Obviously Reid/Nagy offense heavily emphasizes the TE position.
Yes, Theo is going to have an opportunity here but looking deeper, do we think it is even more likely now that the Giants go hard after a guy like Isiah Likely in FA? Any other FA TE's that might become available or guys to pay attention to in the draft?
Bellinger I think is probably signing elsewhere.
Theo has the tools, but needs to work on his hands as you mentioned.
I would think Ravens' offensive players are more likely to follow Monken.
Theo Johnson last season had 528 yards and 5 TD's. We can all agree that Johnson has to decrease the number of drops but overall he's a better TE than Likely.
For Johnson to be a focal point of this offense, he has to earn that. They aren't going to build an offense around a TE who struggles to catch the ball.
Has no one heard these rumors?
He's not coming

How about the red headed step brother - Fidone?? Would be interesting to see what he can do under Nagys 🐎system.

We all saw the rumors.
We all also saw the conflicting reports that debunked those rumors.
You can believe Rapoport, or believe Schefter, or just acknowledge that all of these Twitter clickseekers are part of the same content/attention ecosystem.
Rumors aside, I don't particularly want Likely, at least not at the contract numbers being floated in that same content/attention ecosystem. But if Harbaugh thinks he's a difference-maker, I'll welcome him.
The question I have is do the current coaches want a vet FA at the position or do they think Johnson will take a step up in 2026?

Yup freakish athlete wayyy to inconsistent
Still think they should add a more consistent receiving threat to complement Theo. Eli Stowers, if he somehow made it to the giants 4th round pick, would be the dream scenario for me
In another thread Big Rick in TE reported on what he is hearing
I've heard from an agent and two other teams about players the Giants are supposedly interested in. I have no idea if it's real or how serious the interest is as it didn't come from inside the Giants building.
Isaiah Likely
Chigoziem Okonkwo
David Njoku
It seems they gave a certain style of TE they are looking to add.
This makes sense give how the Chiefs use Kelce

Good info. Would honestly be happy with any of those guys. Okonkwo in general seems like an underrated talent.

We all saw it, and we all saw it being debunked multiple times over.
