I would say a few things His average yard per catch for his career is 15 yards per catch. So he can get downfield, which is good considering many colleges average depth of reception is much lower than 15.

He also had a ZERO percent drop rate last season combined with an 85% contested catch rate..

He had dropped 5 passes his whole college career.

So there is solid production.

Solid, yes, but he called it outstanding. To be honest, the high YPC is not a huge positive in my eyes. Taken by itself, sure, but he’s not a particularly high volume catch guy and pair that with limited YAC ability, it projects a little one dimensional to me for that high of a draft pick.

I don’t know, but I think in both cases there is more than enough positional flexibility to make the selection. And both are excellent additions for our biggest weakness which is stopping the run. Contrast that with Bailey who I like but not for us. Limited help in run game and a pure edge without flexibility of the other two.

I don’t think it’s so much that than it is we could use all of the guys that drop to us in that scenario. I don’t see one hole that much bigger than the rest. Going to come down to the cliche BPA unless Wilson or Nagy present their case for one specific guy. Wilson is know for his work in the secondary and all different looks which would make Downs a good option. But Okereke could be a cap cut (rumors of signing Dean?). There’s really no bad scenario especially with an Edge heavy top of the draft. Could slide down a spot or two

Yep, I'm #3 for this. Three studs who immediately help, in positions of real weakness for us

I believe Jeremiah had Bane at #2 last version (not positive) but now down at #6. This drop seems to jive with Yates/Kiper saying according to a # of NFL people they are talking to would not be surprised to see Bane drop below #10.

Watch the 2nd safety on his list have better career than Downs.

Love Styles - nice to see him up at #5.

Wonder if Fano/Mauioga getting nit picked some in this process. Want to see how each measure and move - hopefully they participate at combine.

I know he's going to go LVR, but I'm not a huge fan of Mendoza. I don't see him being an elite QB. Of course I'm the same dude who thought Joey Harrington was going to be a HOFer so WTF do I know?
Hm...

Jeremiah on Tate:
Tate is a tall, long wideout with outstanding play speed and production. He has excellent suddenness to defeat press coverage, and he covers ground quickly with his long stride. He attacks defender's leverage when they play him in off coverage. He has strong/reliable hands in traffic and tracks the ball beautifully over his shoulder down the field. He can access an extra gear when the ball is in the air. He is a loose athlete and that shows up when he adjusts to balls thrown on his back shoulder. He is efficient with his footwork when working back to the quarterback. He's not exceptionally dynamic with the ball in his hands. Overall, Tate should provide an immediate impact in the vertical passing game.

Jeremiah on Justin Jefferson in 2020:
Jefferson is a tall, slender wideout with off-the-charts production. He lines up in the slot and out wide. He is an outstanding route runner. He does a nice job getting on the toes of cornerbacks and then creating separation out of the break point. He does a lot of work in traffic and will extend and finish before taking hard contact. He can play above the rim down the field and can contort his body to make special catches. He doesn't have elite speed, but he's plenty fast enough. After the catch, he has some wiggle and will fight for extra yards. Overall, Jefferson is a polished receiver and should make an immediate impact at the next level.
Tate is not Jefferson

In terms of YAC according to Jeremiah’s write up.
I'm all in on Styles

He was a ton of fun watching live. He stood up big time making play after play and more impressive he yielded no quarter - when he hit you the offensive player basically stopped. One live game, but I saw enough!
My God, the Tate hype is so out of control

This. Look at what Fred Warner means to San Fran. If he can be that good grab him. The real issue is the Giants draft wise haven’t given a shit about ILB or in general LB in 25 years. Indnt consider EDGE guys true Lbs. especially as they seem to use them as DEs.

Ok, but now we're qualifying production. And that's three things that point to a single dimension --down field threat. So yes, you get that, but that's not where the majority of passing production comes from in the NFL. No yards after catch, and limited volume. That's what he's shown in his one year of production. I like him as a player, but he was second fiddle in college and would be our #2 here too, and that just doesn't add up to a top 5 overall pick.
